Camel Snus Winterchill Review

Odds are you’ve never seen the Swedish Version of Camel Snus.

Camel Snus Winterchill wintergreen flavor and consequently my review was born from a good deed. A friend ran out of Swedish snus so I gave him my last can of Thunder Wintergreen. I missed my wintergreen, remembered Camel Snus and bought a tin. The idea of buying non Swedish don’t set well with me because there is no way to know how it’s made. My Swedish order would take a couple days to arrive so I bought what was handy.

Only once have I ever used Camel Snus which was two or three years ago. All I really remember about the experience was thinking it tasted bad, throwing away its contents but keeping the empty tin. This time around I planned to give them an honest try for my Camel Snus Winterchill review.

Camel Snus Wide

When I opened my first tin of Camel Snus Winterchill the pouch size impressed me as very large. Their length is just a slightly (approx. 3mm or 0.10″) wider cut but thickness is equal of a regular Swedish medium pouch.

Camel Winterchill’s large size compared to Swedish is caused by the large amount of tobacco stuffed into them. Their moisture content is about 25% and average Swedish is roughly 50%. Not having a scale that measures down to partial grams made it impossible to accurately list their weight. My best estimation is between 1.5 to 2.0 g in each Camel Snus Winterchill pouch. It’s possible there is up to 2.0 g but probably closer to 1.5 – 1.8 g. It’s large pouch is visually noticeable under my lip. Also, after using half a tin, my gums and lip are somewhat irritated caused from assumingly its large size.

Camel Snus Nicotine

Camel Wintergreen flavored snus taste of strong and very sweet wintergreen. Its mint flavor and sweetness last a very long time. Far too long since its pH must be hardly nothing because I barely sense any nicotine. The sickening overly sweet taste is almost more than I can force myself to suffer through. I further tested them this morning by waiting two hours and letting one be my days first. I don’t have a testing lab but have been using tobacco for about thirty-five years. Barely enough nicotine entered by body to notice even after going ten hours without any. Let’s say there is a scale from one to ten. Let’s say 0 means no nicotine and 10 means sick from too much. Winterchill would be maybe a 2 or 3 which is about what the weakest Swedish snus would be.

Better Than Camel Snus

In contrast, Thunder Wintergreen Extra Strong pouches contain about 0.8 g of much wetter tobacco, higher pH and contain 13 mg nicotine which leaves Camel in the dust.

General Wintergreen Portion taste far better than Winterchill and its nicotine hit’s about twice better. Most Swedish snus portions including General WG weigh 0.7 to 1.0 g.

There are more than 171 brands and types of Swedish currently available moreover the count grows constantly. A few related brands have been selected and are listed below.
